Cycling Weekend in Romania

Since the weekend that just passed had two cycling events, I think it is appropriate to use this title. The cycling lovers in Romania were spoiled with these  events to which I partially attended and took some photos.

  • Cu bicicleta la mare (Cycling to the seaside) – had it’s start on Saturday, April 26th, 2014. The event had it’s first edition in 2007 with a unique participant – a TV presenter. This year, the event was attended by ~400 participants of all ages. General information of the event:

    • Duration – 2 days

    • Start point: Bucharest

    • Finish point: Navodari beach, Constanta County

    • Length – ~300 km

  • Official recognition of the route of Prima Evadare (First Escape) – took place on Sunday, April 27th, 2014. The ride had the purpose of getting familiar with the route of the contest which will be held on May 11th, 2014. The event was attended by ~350 participants.

Prima Evadare (First Escape) is a cross country bike competition that aims to open the season of MTB marathons in a light version, without level differences. In the last years it became the cycling marathon with the largest number of participants from Eastern Europe. Every year, the marathon exceeds its own record on the number of participants.

The competition runs between Bucharest and Snagov, through the woods and country roads, for a distance of approximately 55 km.

You can see photos from both events on our Facebook page.

P.S. Registration for First Escape contest is open until April 10, 2014 and can be done here.
