StarCraft 2: CRAZY Engagements in Zerg vs Zerg! (Live Game)

Another live game of StarCraft 2 where I play with the Zerg units in a macro focused Zerg versus Zerg on Iron Fortress. In this game we both decide to play very timing and macro focused, meaning that we get some insane maxed out Roach versus Roach battles.

Transitioning out of Roach versus Roach is very difficult as it’s expensive, it basically means your opponent has al ot of time where he will simply have more Roaches because you dedicated resources to teching up. This exact problem comes into play in this Zerg versus Zerg aswell.

  1. Hi Lowko, got a quick q. Can I ask how do you know your econ is better than his given that he did a gasless roach opening at 6:30?

I thought your econ will be on par or smaller than his given that you spent a round of larvae to build lings instead of drones (which he would be doing). Is it bc you only took 3 geysers and those drones use to mine gas can be mine minerals?

I thought the roach gasless opening is ideal to get full sat on both bases as early as possible.

  2. Great game Lowko! I really liked your strategic thinking on this one. I have an idea about something you could add to this matchup to get the advantage also in the upgrades category. Try going for the overseer ability to stop the evo chambers' upgrades as many times as possible to even out the upgrades, and then you can simply outmacro him with your 3rd hatchery!

  3. I had a game like this the other week. He decided to get hydra tech, infestors AND burrow, while I just went for 3/3 roaches and un upgraded brood lords and he waited too long to attack. Just goes to show in this matchup that low tech can be the answer.

  4. Like every other comment, really GG and very very educational – the mistakes you both made on the ramp move was interesting and your final words on Z v Z skirmishes when one player risks for the Hive upgrade i never saw as such a big factor, great stuff as usual Lowko!

  5. Do you have any idea of how many hours you have spend on this game? Because, when I thought I was good at this game, you just proved me unequivocally wrong. I was ''Sheit''. And I spended atleast a month to practise in my free time. A game against you, would drive me insane.
